About Starter Templates

The biggest boost to quickly building great websites is our Starter Templates collection. Our Library contains more than 100 ready-to-use free templates available to all Astra theme users. In addition, there are 120+ premium templates for users with Essential or Growth Bundle.

Starting any project becomes much easier when you have a whole team to help you. Instead of starting from scratch, the Astra team designed great-looking templates for you to use.

Starter Templates are fully designed website templates made by our team, which can be imported using our free plugin. Similarly, you would need the Premium Starter Templates plugin to import the premium templates. You can download this plugin from Brainstorm Force Store.

Templates And Page Builders

You can choose templates based on your preferred Page Builder:

Gutenberg, Elementor, Beaver Builder, and Brizy.

Note:

Since Starter Templates version 3.0.0, Brizy builder templates are not available by default. Accordingly, if you wish to import Brizy templates, you’ll need to enable this option. To do this, navigate to Dashboard > Settings > General and click on “Enable Brizy Page Builder Templates in Starter Templates” [screenshot].

Importing the whole website template will come with all of the needed plugins and dummy content. Thus, you don’t need additional plugins for templates to look exactly as shown in the Starter Templates library.

Also, you can import individual pages from any template, as well as pre-made blocks.

Once a template is imported, you just need to replace the dummy content with your own, and you’re done. Further, you are free to modify the template designs as you wish.

Free vs. Premium

When browsing the Starter Template library, you will notice that some templates have “PREMIUM” badges. These badges are used to distinguish Free templates from Premium ones.

You have both free and Premium templates for many industries and different types of websites at your disposal. Thus there are no limits or differences between free and premium templates in what websites you can create.

The main difference between Free and Premium templates is the quality of the design. In addition, we use several premium tools (plugins) like Astra Pro and Ultimate Addons for Elementor or Ultimate Addons for Beaver Builder to design Premium templates.

These plugins provide specific design options and functionalities that are not available for free. That is an additional reason why Premium templates are available only for users with licenses for one of our Bundles.

How to Install Starter Templates plugins (Free and Premium)

Starter Templates can be imported using two different plugins, free and Premium.

Free Strater Templates

If you are looking only for our free templates, please follow these steps:

Step 1 – Navigate to the Dashboard > Plugins > Add New and download the free plugin from the WordPress repository;

Step 2 – Install and Activate the Plugin;

Step 3 – Once the plugin is installed and activated, you can find the templates library at Dashboard > Appearance > Starter Templates.

Though you will be able to see both free and premium templates in your library, you will be able to import only the free ones.

Premium Strater Templates

The process is slightly different if you need to import premium templates, as these are available only with the Premium Starter Templates plugin. You’ll need to buy a license for either our Essential Bundle or the Growth Bundle to use this plugin.

Please follow these steps to install the plugin and activate the license:Step 1 – Log in to Brainstorm Force Store;

Step 2 – Download the plugin at Account > Downloads. This will save a .zip file on your computer. Stay logged in, as you will need your license a bit later.

Step 3 – Login to your website admin area (Dashboard).

Step 4 – Navigate to Plugins > Add New and click on “Upload Plugin”. Choose the .zip file you previously downloaded from our store and click on the “Install Now” button.

Step 5 – Get your Premium Starter Templates license from Brainstorm Force Store (Account > Licenses). The detailed step-by-step instructions are available in this article.

Note

Please keep in mind that Premium Starter Templates have their own license key, so you can’t use the key for other plugins here (e.g., Astra Pro key, etc.)

Step 6 – Once you have installed and activated the plugin and got your license key, it’s time to activate your license too. Hence, navigate to Dashboard > Plugins.

Here, you will notice the “Activate License” button under the plugin name. Also, there will be a notice at the top of the page. Click to button or notice, and add your license in the license popup.

Step 7 – Now, after the license is activated, you can find the templates library at Dashboard > Appearance > Starter Templates.

If you previously used the free plugin on the same website, you need to deactivate or remove the free plugin before using the “Premium Starter Templates” plugin.

Note

If you bought our Essential Bundle, you had to decide on Ultimate Addons for Elementor or Ultimate Addons for Beaver Builder bundle. Depending on the option you opted for, you will be able to import premium templates only for the chosen builder. In other words, by choosing Bundle with Ultimate Addons for Elementor, you can import the premium templates for the Elementor. Premium templates for Beaver Builder will not be available (and vice versa).

Importing Free Templates

The first step to importing the free templates is to install the Starter Templates plugin. The plugin provides two sets of templates, free and Premium. You can learn how to install the free plugin here.

Visit the Getting Started with Starter Templates document for more details on FREE and PREMIUM Starter Templates.

Once you install and activate the plugin, you can start importing Starter Templates. You can also check out all the great options that came with Starter Templates 3.0 in the video below:

Previewing Templates

Step 1 – Navigate to Appearance > Starter Templates, and click the “Build Your Website Now” button. Next, you’ll need to select your preferred page builder: Elementor, Gutenberg, or Beaver Builder. This will open the Templates Library and styling options;

Note:

Brizy builder templates are not available by default. Accordingly, if you wish to import Brizy templates, you’ll need to enable this option. To do this, navigate to Dashboard > Settings > General and click on “Enable Brizy Page Builder Templates in Starter Templates” [screenshot].

Step 2 – You can browse the Library to see the templates available for your selected page builder.

Once you find the template you like, click on it to preview your template. You will go through several pages with styling settings like logo, colors, and typography.

On each step, you can preview the entire template using the live preview on the right side. Just click on any page in the menu like you would on the live website.

Styling Options

Step 3 – Firstly, add your logo to see how it would look with the selected template:

Click on the “Click to Upload” button;Upload the logo file or add it from Media Library;Set the logo width.

Here, you can also try different variations of your logo to find which one fits the best. Click on “Continue” to save the changes.

You need not worry if you don’t have your logo ready. Just click on the “Skip & Continue” button below. This will add a default logo from the template, which you can change later;

Step 4 – Next, you can select one of the premade global color palettes. Selecting any premade color palette will change colors in the template preview accordingly. Also, you can leave the default color palette. Once you decide on the color palette to use, select it and click “Continue”;

Step 5 – Finally, you can select one of the available typography presets and try different text styles. Text in the template preview will change its style accordingly.

Click the “Continue” button to proceed to template import. Skipping this step will apply the default typography to your import;

Note:

You will be able to manually modify all settings after the template import. In other words, you can change the logo, colors, and typography any time you want.

Importing A Complete Site Template

Step 6 – After you go through the template preview and settings, you will come to importing page. Here, you will have several “Advanced Options”:

Delete Previously Imported Site – This option will automatically delete designs, content, and settings of any starter template you previously imported;Install & Activate Astra Theme – Starter Templates are designed to work perfectly with the Astra theme. Starter Templates plugin will install/activate the Astra theme automaticaly with this option. Contrary, if you disable this option, the imported template will work with your currently active theme. Hence, the template might look differently on your website compared to the Library preview;Import Customizer Settings – Each site template comes with its own Astra customizer settings. Hence, if you disable this option, the template will inherit the current theme customizer settings;Import Widgets – This will import the widgets used in the site template (especially with header and footer);Install Required Plugins – This option can’t be disabled. On the other hand, hovering over the tooltip icon (question mark) you can see the list of the plugins that will be installed;Import Content – Enabling this option, will import content (text) and images for the template you selected. Yet, if you only want to import the website structure and design, you can uncheck this option;

Furthermore, we suggest enabling all these settings to ensure the imported template is the same as the preview.

Click on “Submit & Build My Website” to initiate the import process. Don’t close the window until the template import process is finished.

Note:

If you see the “Get Access!” button instead, it means that you are trying to import Premium templates using the free Starter Templates plugin. Also, this could mean that you didn’t activate your Premium Starter License.

Step 7 – Once the import process is completed, you can view your website by clicking the “View Your Site” button.

Importing Premium Templates

Premium Templates are available only with Essential or Growth Bundles. You can set them apart in the templates library by the Premium tag in the upper right corner.

To import Premium site templates, you need to install the Premium Starter Templates plugin. If you need help installing and activating the plugin or activating its license, you can find more details here.

Once the Premium Starter Templates license is activated, you can import the Premium templates. Please follow the same above-mentioned steps for importing free templates.

Recommendation:

Though not required, we recommend you import a site template on a clean WordPress installation. Also, you can reset your current WordPress installation to start fresh with the brand new site. Here’s a quick guide to help you do that.

How to Import Single Page With Starter Templates?

How to Import Single Page With Starter Templates?

Similar to importing a complete website, you can import single-page templates with the Starter Templates plugin. There are page templates for home, about, services, blog, contact, and many other page types. Thus, the Starter Templates library offers you a large number of templates with a distinct color scheme, designs, and layouts. You can mix and match single pages from different templates to create your unique website design.

This document will show you how to import single pages and how to combine them successfully.

Importing Single Page Templates

To import templates, you must first install and activate your Starter Template plugin. You can choose to install the free plugin or the premium one.

Both plugins will enable you to import the free templates. But to import Premium templates, you will need the Premium Starter Templates plugin, which you can download from our Store. You also need to activate the Premium Starter Templates license once the plugin is installed and activated.

You can find more details on installing the Starter Templates plugin in the Getting Started with Starter Templates article.

Page Template Importing Process

Once the required plugin is activated, you can start importing templates. The process for importing both free and premium page templates is the same.

Note:

Since Starter Template version 3.0.0 the importing process and Starter Templates UI were modified. If you’re using the older version of the Starter Templates plugin (free or Premium), your importing process will be different from the process described in this document.

You can import single-page templates to your page or post. To do this, you need to access Gutenberg or Elementor editor:

Step 1 – Navigate to your Post or Page and access the editor to access the Elementor or Gutenberg Templates Library.

Step 2 – You can import Gutenberg templates by clicking on the Starter Templates button in the editor:

Alternatively, if you want to import Elementor templates, you can import them by starting your Elementor editor. Here, click on the Starter Templates icon.

Note:

Since Starter Template version 3.0.0 you will not be able to import single-page templates for the Beaver Builder. We temporarily disabled this option.

Step 3 – Browse through the library to find the template you need. Next, click on it to display all single-page templates;

Note:

If you see the “Get Access!” button instead, it means that you are trying to import Premium templates using the free Starter Templates plugin. Also, this could mean that you didn’t activate your Premium Starter Templates License.

Step 4 – You can check out available page templates, select one, and click on the “Import Template” button;

Step 5 – If you don’t have the required plugins installed, you will see a notification that the page dynamic content will not be added. You can continue the import process, but the required plugins won’t be installed nor activated automatically. Thus, you will have to install and activate those plugins yourself.

Still, we suggest you install these plugins before you import a template;

Step 6 – Once the import process is completed, you can view the imported single page automatically as “Draft”. You can further edit and publish the page from the page list (Dashboard > Pages).

Also, you can find more information on importing single-page templates in our following Walkthrough docs for Gutenberg and Elementor.

Note:

Keep in mind that your Customizer settings will not change when you import a single page template. As a result, the imported page design will inherit typography, color, layout, and button styling from your current theme customizer. Thus, the page design might look different than the demo page template in the Starter Templates library.

The “Get Access!” Button – Importing Premium Template

While trying to import the premium templates, you might have seen the “Get Access” button instead of the importing options. This means that something is missing in your setup.

Firstly, as you know, these templates require a Premium Starter Templates plugin to be installed and activated. When using the free Starter Template plugin, the “Get Access” button will redirect you to our sales page. There, you can buy one of our Bundles which come with Premium Starter Templates included.

Secondly, if you installed and activated the Premium Starter Templates plugin there is one more step to do. Now, you also need to activate your Premium Starter Templates plugin license to import Premium templates. If you haven’t done this, you will again see the “Get Access” button on your Premium templates.

Hence, this is what you can do to activate your plugin license:

Step 1 – If you see the “Get Access!” button when you try to import a Premium template (on Step 3 of importing process), go ahead and click on it;

Step 2 – Next, you will see an activation popup. Click the “Activate License” button to activate your Premium Starter Templates plugin license. You can copy the license key from your store account and paste it into the popup input field.

Step 3 – Once the license is activated, continue the import process from Step 3.

Note:

Although we try to use stock and non-copyrighted images on all of our Starter Sites/templates, we cannot take legal responsibility for any claims. We highly recommend replacing the images after importing.

Starter Templates Importing

Starter Templates Importing

Starter Templates Importing is a pretty straightforward process. All templates come with needed plugins and settings, giving you an exact look like the one in our Library. Naturally, you can adjust settings and add, modify or remove any imported content as you wish.

Furthermore, you can decide to import a complete website template, individual pages or add pre-designed elements to your designs.

This document will explain mentioned template options and show you how to import Starter Template to your website.

Starter Templates Plugin Basics

Once you install and activate your theme and Starter Templates plugin, you can access the Starter Templates Library. It’s a starting place where you can browse all available templates.  Thus, navigate to Dashboard > Appearance > Starter Templates to start. Further below, we covered the main Library functions:

Select your Page Builder: in the upper right corner of the Library, you will find a Page Builder selector. Here, you can choose your preferred Page Builder, and the Templates library will be adjusted accordingly;

Sync Library: On the left, next to the page builder selector, you will find the “Sync Library” button. You will use these feature to sync your website Library with our server and refresh templates;

My favorite: Next to the Sync button, you can find the “My Favorite” option. Here, you’ll find all the templates you marked as favorite in the Library. You can mark any template as a favorite by clicking a heart-shaped icon at the bottom of the template cover;

Search Bar: In the middle of the Library’s top part, you will see a search bar. You can type the keywords to search templates by thier titles;

Filtering Options: You will find additional filtering options under the search bar. You can filter templates by category, separate premium templates, and sort them by popularity or publishing date.

Still, if you don’t wish to search and filter templates, you can scroll down and browse the Library that way.

Note:

Since Starter Template version 3.0.0 the importing process and Starter Templates UI were modified. If you’re using the older version of the Starter Templates plugin (free or Premium), your importing process will be different from the process described in this document.

Browsing Templates

Browse Templates: Each template in the library is represented with the cover picture. Once you find a template you like, just click on its cover picture to preview template.

Template Preview & Styling: When you click on any template, this will open a template live preview and styling options. Here, you can click on any template page and check them out. Further, you will have styling options where you can add your logo, choose the color palette and fonts.

What Happens When I Import a Starter Template?

The Starter Templates are built as fully functional websites. This means the Starter Templates importing process covers all steps needed for your website to look exactly like our demos.

After the import, the only thing left is to update the content (texts, logo, images) with your own. Now, your website is ready. Further down, we’ll show you the main differences between importing the whole website template and importing individual templates.

Importing a Complete Site Template

Once you click on any template in the Starter Template library, you can preview and style a template. Further, if you decided on the template and style, you can start the import process.

The Starter Templates importing process will do the following:

Install a Page Builder depending on your selection. For example, let’s say you select a template for Elementor. As a result, our plugin will install and activate the Elementor builder plugin as part of the import process;

Depending on the template, some additional plugins will be installed and activated. These can include plugins like WooCommerce, WPForms Lite, etc.

Further, some premium plugins could be installed, like Ultimate Addons for Elementor (UAE) or Ultimate Addons for Beaver Builder (UABB). These plugins are installed only when you import Elementor or Beaver Builder Premium templates;

Note

When you import Premium templates containing the UAE or UABB, the plugins will be activated and fully operational. At the same time, UAE or UABB license will not be automatically activated. Thus, you would also need to activate the license to receive future updates. Your license keys are available in Brainstorm Force Store, at Account > Licenses.

Import all customizer settings, including layout, colors, fonts, etc. automatically;

Add options you selected in the Preview and Styling steps (Logo, Colors, Fonts);

Add all pages and dummy posts;

Import the header, footer, menus, and dummy content also;

As mentioned, some templates are intended to work with plugins like WooCommerce or LearnDash. When you import these templates, the importing process will also add dummy content for these plugins (products, courses, etc.).

In addition, If you previously imported any Starter template, you can remove it altogether when importing a new one. To do this, check the “Delete Previously Imported Site” box when you start the import process. This option can also be located under the “Advanced Options” dropdown menu on the importing popup.

Keep in mind that importing process will only delete the content and settings added by the previously imported template. It will not remove any content you created yourself.

Any posts, pages, custom post types, etc., you added will still be present on your website. If you want to remove these, you have to do it manually.

Additionally, importing options allow you to select which elements of the template import can be omitted. For instance, you can select not to import the Customizer settings or dummy content.

You can find more details on this topic in the next Walktrough article about importing the complete site template (Free or Premium).

Importing a Single Page Starter Template

If you decide to import only an individual page (template), the import process will include only the following:

Install a Page Builder depending on your selection;

Add the single page template as a draft;

Import dummy content only for the single page template.

Depending on your customizer settings, the page might look different compared to our demos.

Also, some pages contain dynamic data which will not be imported in this case. Suppose you are using templates intended to work with plugins like WooCommerce or LearnDash. Here, the import process will add the design and dynamic elements (widgets, modules) but not the dynamic data (WooCommerce products, LearnDash courses, etc.).

Therefore, you will need to install and activate these plugins manually and add dynamic content yourself.

You can find more details on this topic in the article about importing single pages.

Note:

Since Starter Template version 3.0.0 you will not be able to import single-page templates for the Beaver Builder. We temporarily disabled this option.

Importing the Pre-designed Elements

Importing the pre-designed elements is only available with Elementor (Blocks) and Gutenberg (Patterns) builders.

You can import the block/pattern to your page, post, or other parts of your website that can be edited with the builder. The template will be added to your design as an individual element.

In this case, you will need to have all related (needed) plugins already installed. Also, to use this option, you’ll need to create the page or post by yourself.

You can find more details on this topic in articles about importing Elementor Blocks and Gutenberg Patterns.

Importing Gutenberg Pages, Patterns, and Wireframes

Importing Gutenberg Pages, Patterns, and Wireframes

Starter Templates are built for different page builders (Elementor and Beaver Builder), including the WordPress default Block editor (Gutenberg). With Gutenberg Starter Templates, you can also import single pages and pre-designed elements (Patterns) directly inside the block editor. In addition, you have the option to create your page or website mockup directly on your website with Wireframe Blocks.

This document will show you how to import templates directly into your Block editor. This option allows you to build websites much faster and easier than before.

Starter Templates Walkthrough Docs:

How to Import Starter Templates From Block Editor?

In addition to importing templates as a complete site or single page, the Gutenberg Starter Templates also come with Patterns. Gutenberg Patterns are attractive editable sections like a call to action, FAQ, features, portfolio, services, team, and so on.

Next to Patterns, Gutenberg Starter Templates provide wireframing templates too. Wireframing means creating a basic structure of your webpage like some sections, their layout, image position, text position, and so on. You can import ready-to-use wireframe blocks to the Gutenberg editor and create your page or post mockups.

To start importing Gutenberg Starter Templates, you only need to install and activate Starter Templates or Premium Starter Templates plugins. Afterward, you can easily import Gutenberg pages and patterns with a few clicks.

Importing Process

Once you’re ready, you can follow the steps below:

Step 1 – Navigate to Dashboard > Pages > Add New. In the top menu of the page editor, click on the “Starter Templates” button. This will open the Gutenberg Starter Templates Library;

Step 2 – In the top menu of the Library, you will see the “Pages“, “Patterns“, and “Wireframes” tabs. Select the one you wish to import.

Step 3 – Next, you can browse the templates and select the one you wish to import:

Import Page Template: Click on the Starter Template you like to preview the available pages. Select the page template you wish to import and click on the import button;

Import Pattern / Wireframes:  Filter blocks by color and category. Once you find the block you need, hover over it, and click on the “Import” button;

Step 4 – Once you import page template, pattern, or wireframe blocks, you can edit them as needed;

Step 5 – You can repeat steps 2, 3, and 4 as many times as needed. Finally, when you are satisfied with your page or post design (or mockup), click the “Publish” button.

Plugins and Customizer

After importing any Gutenberg Starter Template, you might notice that some colors or typography look differently than in the Library. This difference is happening because your customizer settings are automatically inherited by templates.

For example, let’s say you’ve set the yellow background color for buttons in the customizer. At the same time, the page template you want to import has a button with green background in the Library. After importing the page, a customizer setting (i.e., yellow background color) will be applied to the button. As a result, the button background will be yellow instead of the green you saw on the demo.

Similarly, typography will be inherited from the customizer. All headings and content will have typography set from the customizer.

Further, templates might look different if there is a required plugin missing. When importing individual templates and blocks, plugins will not be automatically installed and activated. Here, you would have to install and activate these plugins manually so your templates would look as intended.

Starter Templates – Plugin Installation Failed

Starter Templates – Plugin Installation Failed

One of the common errors that you might encounter while working with the Starter Templates Plugin is the pop up with “Plugin Installation Failed”.

In this article, we’ll explain the possible reasons for this and help you resolve it so you can start building your website.

While working with Starter Templates, do you see a popup showing an error – “Plugin Installation Failed“? If yes, this article will explain the possible reasons for this error and how you can solve it.

Starter Templates are built with the free version of page builders (Elementor, Brizzy, Beaver Builder, and Gutenberg) and some other plugins. While importing a template, if these required plugins are not yet installed on your website, they will be automatically installed.

If one of these plugins fails to install for some reason, that’s the underlying cause why you might see this error message.

Why?

While we mentioned the underlying cause of the error, here’s the most likely explanation to why it happened.

AJAX Request Failed – When you click on the import button, an AJAX request is sent to our server. This request initiates the installation of plugins on your website. In case this request fails to reach the server you might see plugin installation failed error.

How to Solve?

First, try solutions mentioned here. We will also mention some other workarounds below.

Install Required Plugins Manually – Try to install required plugins from WordPress plugins page (WordPress dashboard > Plugins > Add New > Search and install a plugin ).

In case one of the premium plugins ( a plugin available with Astra packages) installation fails, you can download it from the store account and then upload it to your website.

How to Update the Plugin Manually from WordPress Backend?

How to Update the Plugin Manually from WordPress Backend?

In this article, let’s see how to update plugins manually from WordPress backend.

Step 1:

The first thing you will need to do is, download the latest version of the plugin as an installable zip file. You can find on WordPress.org repository if the plugin was originally downloaded from there. If the plugin is premium, you will need to login to your account and download the plugin zip.

In the case of Astra Pro Addon plugin: Login to our store and open the My Accounts Page where you will be able to download the latest version of the plugin.

Step 2:

Now, temporarily deactivate and delete the currently installed plugin as in the next step, we’re going to reinstall it.

This should not remove any settings you have made or pages created as they are stored in the database. Still, we always encourage everyone to take backups frequently, just in case something goes wrong.

Step 3:

Install the plugin that you downloaded in Step 1.

Building Your Website With Starter Templates

Building Your Website With Starter Templates

Now that you’ve imported the needed templates, it’s time for the final step in building your website with Starter Templates. Therefore, the only thing left is to replace the template (dummy) content with your own and to personalize your website. Further, you can modify the design to adjust it to your brand and needs.

This document will help you understand the basics of template designs and how you can edit them.

General Guidelines for Modifying Starter Templates

Starter Templates contain page designs and dummy content made by our design team. In addition, templates come with all needed plugins and website settings (Customizer, plugins). Once a template is imported, you’re free to modify it any way you need.

Here are some general guidelines that can help you modify templates:

The content (pages, posts) is created using the respective page builder. You can edit content using the page builder you selected when importing the template;
Header and Footer are created using Astra’s Header Footer builder. You can customize them at Appearance > Customize > Header Builder or Footer Builder ;
Sidebars are added via the Customizer. You can customize this at Appearance > Customize > Sidebar ;
Layout, fonts, colors, button settings are all set in the Customizer. You can edit them at Appearance > Customize > Global ;
Content for third-party plugins like WooCommerce or LearnDash is created through these plugins and will be located within these plugins;
Pages for third-party plugins like WooCommerce or LearnDash can be additionally customized in the Customizer under their respective settings.

Understanding Designs

Some designs are pretty straightforward to modify. Accordingly, you can change just a few Customizer settings or edit the design with the page builder as usual.

But sometimes, our designers use more complex solutions to provide you with such great designs. Hence, you don’t have to worry about needing additional plugins or access when you import a complete site. Everything we used for creating the templates was added to your website when you imported a template.

On the other hand, modifying these complex designs might get you puzzled sometimes. Designs might be achieved as a combination of Customizer and page builder settings or could be created using some plugin.

Thus, you should check installed plugins after the template import as a good starting point. Since Starter Templates import installs only necessary plugins, you could identify any plugin used in designs. Next, you should inspect the customizer and global page builder settings, as well as pictures and backgrounds.

Further down, we will explain several principles that could come in handy when trying to understand Starter Templates design.

Editing Templates After The Complete Site Import

To clarify, we made the example below to help you understand better how complex designs are created. Also, we will show you how to modify them.

Here, we used a Travel Agency template for Elementor. Once you import the Travel Agency template, you might notice the vertical lines. These lines are stretching from the top to the bottom of all website pages. We will show you how you could remove them:

Customizer Settings

Step 1 – All sections without a set background are transparent. In other words, you will see the global website background. You can edit the website background at Appearance > Customize > Global > Colors > Background.

Step 2 – Next, click on the Background color picker, and then on the “Image” tab.

Step 3 – Here, check out the background image. You will see that the lines are coming from a full-screen picture. Click on the “Remove Image” button.

This will remove the website background. As a result, all transparent sections will now look like this:

As you can see, the lines disappeared from some sections but are still present in others.

As mentioned earlier, the Elementor sections with the transparent background showed the website background image that we removed. This means, that in other sections, the lines in the background are coming from a different place. So, we should take a look at Elementor settings.

Editing With Elementor

Since the remaining sections are not transparent, so we will check their background settings in Elementor editor:

Step 4 – Navigate to your page, and click on “Edit with Elementor”;

Step 5 – Next, click on “Edit Section” for the sections still showing lines in the background;

Step 6 – Here, navigate to the “Style” tab and scroll down to the “Background Overlay”. Finally, you will see the lines are added as an overlay image. Click on the “Remove” (Trash Can) icon to delete the image:

In this example, we showed you how to edit a design that combines Customizer and Elementor settings. Similarly, you can check out and edit designs in any template.

Replacing Images

When modifying the design, most often you’ll need to edit images. Here also, it’s important to mention that page or post designs are created in layers. Thus, check for images in sections, columns, and other elements when you edit your page with any page builder.

To illustrate this, we’ll show you examples of sections designed with Elementor.

Example 1 – Section Backgorund

In this example, we will show you how a section was built using the section background. The section was built using several layers:

Section with the background;Heading (Fitness Trainer) widget;Heading (Cristy Dowson) and Button (About Me) widgets.

To edit the background image, use the following path:

Step 1 – Start editing the page with Elementor;

Step 2 – Click on “Edit Section”, and choose the “Style” tab;

Step 3 – You can edit the background image under the “Background” panel.

Example 2 – Section Background Overlay, Image and It’s Background

The second example contains images in several layers. This is the structure of the section:

Section with the background overlay;Image widget with set background;Inner layers containing Heading and Text widgets.

Now, let’s see how you can edit images in this section:

Step 1 – Start editing the page with Elementor;

Step 2 – Here, click on “Edit Section”, and choose the “Style” tab;

Step 3 – You can edit the background overlay image under the “Background Overlay” panel.

Step 4 – Next, click on the Image Widget to edit the image. You can modify the image under the “Content” tab here:

Step 5 – Similarly to the section background, you can edit the Image Widget “Background”. To do this, switch to the “Advanced” tab and scroll down to the “Background” panel:

In short, your design options are almost endless. If you’re unsure how to edit any image, just carefully examine all layers until you find the needed settings.

Other Plugins and Starter Templates

Finally, our designers sometimes use additional plugins, so check your “Installed Plugins” to be sure. These plugins will be installed on your website when you import a template.

Further, keep in mind that this will happen only if you import the whole website. Thus, if you imported a single page, you would need to add plugins and dynamic content yourself.

Elementor Header & Footer Builder Plugin

The Elementor Header & Footer Builder is a great free plugin. It allows you to add separate elementor-designed blocks anywhere on your website. This way, the same section can be added to multiple places on your website. For example, some Starter Templates have subscription sections built using this plugin.

Thus, check your installed plugins for Elementor Header & Footer Builder when you import a complete site. If this plugin is present, all templates created with it will be located at Dashboard > Appearance > Elementor Header & Footer Builder.

To edit these templates, please follow these steps:Step 1 – Navigate to Dashboard > Appearance > Elementor Header & Footer Builder and find the template you wish to edit;

Step 2 – Find the “Edit” option under the template name, and click on it to start editing;

Step 3 – Further, click on the “Edit with Elementor” button to open the Elementor editor;

Step 4 – Make modifications you need and click on the “Update” button. Next, click on the Elementor menu and “Exit to Dashboard” to return to template editor;

Step 5 – Also, if needed, you can update Elementor Header & Footer Options. Here, you can change the Type of Template, change the location (Display On), and limit specific User Roles.

Step 6 – Update the template to apply changes.

If you wish to remove any block, you can simply delete it or change the “Display on” settings.

In conclusion, you should now be equipped to build your website with Starter Templates without any hustle. Of course, if you still need help with any template designs, feel free to contact our Support Team.

Are Premium Starter Templates Available With Astra Pro?

No. Though Astra Pro comes with significant additional options for the Astra theme, it doesn’t come with any other Brainstorm Force products.

Premium Starter Templates is a separate premium plugin available only with our Essential and Growth Bundles. You can compare the packages here.

Can I Upgrade My Astra Pro Package to the Bundle Packages?

If you already have the Astra Pro license, you can upgrade any time to Essential or Growth Bundles. When upgrading, you will be paying only for the difference in price between the packages.

If you’re upgrading your annual Astra Pro package to any annual Bundle package, the package’s expiration date won’t change. Since our annual upgrades are prorated, you will be paying only a proportion of the Bundle fee. The difference will be calculated for the remaining time until the package expiration date.

Will My Website Still Work if My License Expired?

Yes, your websites will continue to work correctly. If your package expires, this will result in your licenses becoming invalid.

Until you renew your license, you won’t be receiving updates for any of our premium plugins. Further, you won’t be able to import any new premium templates with the Premium Starter Templates plugin. On the other hand, any template you previously imported will not be affected by this.

Once you renew your license, you will be able to continue working with Premium Starter Templates normally.

Do I Download a .Zip File to Import a Starter Template?

No, the .zip file is not needed for importing starter templates. You can import templates with our Starter Templates plugin, which will import them to your website.

All templates are imported directly from our server. Starter Templates plugin will also install and activate all plugins and add content and settings.

Are Starter Templates a Child Themes for Astra?

No, Starter Templates are not a Child Theme.

Starter Templates are sets of the designed website pages or design elements created by our team. These can be imported as a whole website or as individual pages/elements of your website.

The child theme is a sub-theme of the Parent theme (e.g., the Astra theme). It’s primarily used to store any modifications you might add to Astra Theme (add filters or other custom code). You can read more about the basics of installing the child theme in this article.

Can I Delete the Plugin After Importing a Template?

Yes, you can delete the plugin after importing the starter template you need. Any imported content will still work properly.

On the other hand, you will no longer be able to import any additional pages, templates, or pre-designed elements (Gutenberg Patterns / Elementor Blocks) to your website as these are all provided by Starter Templates plugins. However, if you remove the plugin for any reason, once you install and reactivate it, these options will become available.

Can I Import Starter Templates on an Existing Website?

Yes, you can. Importing the single pages or pre-designed elements (Gutenberg Patterns / Elementor Blocks) won’t affect your existing content. On the contrary, importing the complete site template might change how your website looks as it comes with its own customizer settings and content. The imported content can also get mixed up with your existing content. You can check out more details in this article.

How Can I Reset My Website After Importing Starter Templates?

You can reset your website in several ways. To begin with, you can manually remove your plugins, pages, posts, and media files. Further, with the Astra theme, you can reset your customizer settings with the Customizer Reset plugin.

Next, if you need 100% clean WordPress installation, you can check with your hosting provider or use some plugins.

Some hosting providers offer options for completely removing and resetting your website installation.

Otherwise, you could use plugins like the Advanced WordPress Reset. Check this article for details on how to do this.

Can I Use Images That Come With Starter Templates?

It’s not advisable. We use stock and non-copyrighted (free) images from websites like Pexels, Pixabay, and Unsplash on all of our starter templates. On the other hand, we cannot take legal responsibility for any claims if the mentioned website’s policies change.

Accordingly, we recommend replacing all template images after the import.

However, Pixabay images imported through the Starter Templates Pixabay image library are free. Furthermore, images downloaded this way can be used for free under the Pixabay License. Still, please have in mind some additional rules set by Pixabay.
